Good news and gooder news

First off, my pal Cherie Priest is running a silent auction for the benefit of a friend who’s having the worst luck evar and is in need of a boost.  Bid, because when Cherie becomes horribly famous (imminent!) this stuff will be on eBay for $500 a pop and you’ll be SOL.

Second, I already tweeted some news, but it bears repeating here:

From the PM listing:
Night Life and Street Magic author Caitlin Kittredge’s four new works of urban fantasy, to Rose Hilliard at St. Martin’s, in a very nice deal, by Rachel Vater at Folio Literary Management (NA).

What this means: Three more Black London novels, since three is what I always planned after Street Magic and Demon Bound.  And one Bonus! surprise novel that can be whatever I choose.  I am quite giddy at this prospect.

What this doesn’t mean: more Nocturne City books.  The series is ending (as it has been planned to end for some time now, quietly) with Book 5, Daemon’s Mark. Already written, already turned in, so there’s no worries of a dangling ending to Luna’s story.

I’m not upset about this in the least–I love telling stories, period, but I also know when a story has run it’s course.  The Nocturne City books had an excellent run, and they stand complete.  I’m proud of them, but ecstatic to open up a new chapter and tell new stories going forward.

All right, and to salve those of you who this news upsets, here’s some good:  The first three Nocturne books (Night Life, Pure Blood and Second Skin) have sold German rights at auction and will be appearing in Germany…some time in the near future.  This is in addition to the UK deal I signed several months back.

Lastly, I’ve gotten back to work after the riot of SDCC, and I present to you a snippet from the second take on Rusty Cage, my (to steal from Cherie) alternate history crime noir with shapeshifters, necromancers and bonus! Irish mobsters.

“Roy pushed out his chest, red vest pale in comparison to Danny McAuley’s blood. It was everywhere—the tiles, the walls, the cracked, frosty mirror above the basin. Like snow. Crimson snow drifting down to cover up a human sin.”

Noir as heck, that’s me.

Congrats on the book deal! I am a little sad to learn that there will be no more Nocturne City adventures after the next book. Oh and good luck house hunting!

  2. Congratulations Caitlin. I’ll miss Luna when her story is done, but more Pete and Jack is fantastic news.

  3. Crystal says:

I’m so happy about your four book deal. I loved Street Magic-hands down the best book I’ve read all year, so I can’t wait to read what else you have in store for Pete and Jack!
