It was A Day. Big ups (having a scene go just right, floor guy coming to measure the office for new hardwood), big downs (waking up with a pounding hangover headache and seasick innards despite doing no drinking whatsoever yesterday.)
Wrote a lot. Made some playlists for the iPod. Surfed a lot when I was stuck on the scene before the scene that went right. Will check off some bullet points forthwith:
Via Warren, firsthand evidence that steampunk hates you and wants you to die slowly.
This somewhat alarming to a steamthusiast like myself, but I suspect I shall survive. (And I’m totally stealing that origin story for a steammonster in a future Iron Codex book.)
Only nine days late, I present my Top Books of 2008, in no particular order.
The Iron Hunt, Marjorie M. Liu
The Graveyard Book, Neil Gaiman
Forest of Hands and Teeth, Carrie Ryan (ARC)
Shadow Kiss, Richelle Mead
Fathom, Cherie Priest

Things Accomplished in Fiction: Aoife slew ghouls, got some eerie powers, and is perilously close to the kissy scene.
Things Accomplished in Real Life: Got the office measured for new floors, cleaned the kitchen.
Reason for Stopping: Goal, bitches.
Reading: Boneshaker (galley), Cherie Priest, Hellblazer “The Devil You Know”, Jamie Delano et al
I write speculative fiction, including but not limited to books about mages, werewolves, superheroes, steampunk monsters, fairies and demons. I have partially purple hair, collect comic books, do pinup modeling and photography in my copious spare time, and keep the music up way too loud.
