Portland, we hardly knew ye.

I went to Portland! And Powell’s! And then watched Mark and Mario, sick bastards and all-around fine human beings sign books. Cherie has graciously set up a Flickr stream.

And I oogled my idol in Powell’s downtown location (only a little.)

Good times. Good times.

It’s been like, 1,000 years since I posted any writing stuff, or feels like it. Good news, first: Night Life spent a third week on the Bookscan Fantasy list, and continues to set various parts of the world on fire.

And some sorta meh news: Ashes to Ashes isn’t going to be finished March 31. It’s going REALLY slow. Good, just slow. I’ve gotten 6/25,000 words so far, and I like where the story is going and I think it will be a strong entry into the “demon huntress” novella collection I’m writing it for, but man. Sloooow. /snores.

The new plan is to work on Witch Craft like a mad thing in April and do 1,000 words a day on Ashes to Ashes in addition. And until then, I’m going to take time off to get ahead on a number of household tasks that need doing. The kitchen remodel will be rolling again soon, and I’ve been jettisoning a bunch of stuff held over from college and dorm/apartment living that’s pretty hideous. (Crusty plastic bowls! Delicious!)

Oh, and one last reminder: tomorrow is the UBookstore signing with Mark Henry and I. 7 pm. Come on down!

Night Life has some new reviews:

Romance Junkies gives the book five blue ribbons. Thanks, guys.

Amber reviews all the way from Austria.

Urban Fantasy Land gives a B+.

The Good, The Bad, The Unread gives a C+ in an extremely thoughtful review. Thanks, Devon!
